An elephant never forgets to take their CBD

Depression and anxiety disorders are common mental health conditions can have lasting effects on a person’s health, social life, ability to work, and overall well-being.

.

While doctors often prescribe pharmaceutical drugs to help a person treat or manage depression, many of these drugs have difficult side effects, such as mood swings, sleeplessness, sexual dysfunction, and compound the problem instead of helping solve it.

.

In published research from a recent medical journal, CBD appears to have a positive interaction with serotonin receptors in the brain, which impacts a persons mental state and feelings of well-being or happiness. Keeping serotonin levels balanced is often a key therapy for people with depression, and CBD is a proven method of positively impacting serotonin levels. These studies are now being expanded to the zoological field.

Two stressed African elephants are to be given medical cannabidiol -- CBD -- in an effort to help them relax and even temperament and shows of aggression at a zoo in Poland.

.

Warsaw Zoo announced on its website Thursday that it would conduct the experiment, which it hopes will improve the mood and lower cortisol of the animals.

.

"We have started a project during which we will check the effect of CBD hemp oils on the mood of our animals," the statement read.

.

We will keep our CBD connoisseurs updated on the progress of these two elephants and continue to share the progress we’re making as a society to recognize the endless benefits of cannabis. #karmanotpharma
