You may have heard the recent hype regarding cannabinoids helping in the prevention of SARS-CoV-2 and emerging variants. SARS-CoV-2 and its RNA strands encode four main structural proteins, the spike, membrane, envelope, and nucleocapsid, which result in crown like protrusions on its outer surface.
These little devilish diadems are swimming around as aerosol, floating around for hours, waiting for a cell to bind to. Todays’ blog will examine the science supporting the hypothesis that cannabinoids can be used in the prevention of the disease, to determine if the hype is real. This study, published Jan 10, 2022, by Oregon State University found that:
“In follow-up virus neutralization assays, cannabigerolic acid and cannabidiolic acid prevented infection of human epithelial cells by a pseudovirus expressing the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and prevented entry of live SARS-CoV-2 into cells. Importantly, cannabigerolic acid and cannabidiolic acid were equally effective against the SARS-CoV-2 alpha variant B.1.1.7 and the beta variant B.1.351. Orally bioavailable and with a long history of safe human use, these cannabinoids, isolated or in hemp extracts, have the potential to prevent as well as treat infection by SARS-CoV-2.”
In laymans’ terms, CBDA and CBGA were found to effectively block the virus entering cells, equally effective in both the SARS-CoV-2 alpha and beta variants.
Although studies have been done that indicated CBD activate the immune system and was effective at treatment of the variants, this study was the first of its kind to use live-virus data, and the results were clear. CBDA and CBGA inhibited the virus’s ability to enter cells and the mechanisms were found to not be mutually exclusive, but rather to work in concert and enhance effectiveness when combined.
While no medical journal in their right mind would exclusively call for the use of plant medicine over vaccinations, at the risk of impending doom from pharmaceutical giants, the research speaks for itself. Harness the power of mother nature- or become another Fox News statistic.
Our patent pending BEYOND FULL SPECTRUM ISOLATE line of products is specifically crafted with a high CBDA, THCA, and CBGA content.
